Mix sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt.
Add egg yolks.
Add about 1/3 cup milk.
Mix well.
Add the rest of milk and vanilla. Cook over medium heat until thick.
Add butter.
Pour into cooked pie shell.
Top with Cool Whip.
Makes one 9-inch pie.
