In large bowl, mix dry ingredients.
In separate bowl, mix butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press thumb in center of each cookie for drained cherry.
