Chocolate Chip Applesauce Cake

Sift first 5 ingredients together.
Make a hole in mixture. Add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup shortening and beat well.
Add a No. 2 can of applesauce and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Pour in large pan (greased), 11 x 13-inch.
Mix and sprinkle over top 1 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup nuts and 3 tablespoons sugar.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 minutes.
