Chocolate Butter Gooey Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 (18.5 oz) devils food cake mix, 1 stick (8 tbsp) melted butter or margarine, 3 eggs, 8 oz cream cheese, softened and 1 (1 lb) box confectioners sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine cake mix, melted butter and 1 egg in a bowl, mixing well.
Press in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish.
Beat cream cheese and confectioners sugar in a bowl until light.
Add the two remaining eggs and mix well. Spread over the chocolate cake mix layer.
Sprinkle with chocolate morsels and bake for 40 minutes.
Cool and cut into squares. Makes 12 servings.
