Chipmunk Cake
Chipmunk Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. chopped dates, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1 c. hot water, 1 c. sugar and 1/2 c. butter, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
In a medium size bowl, sprinkle baking soda over dates, add hot water and set aside.
Cream the shortening, butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift together the flour, salt and cocoa, then add to creamed mixture and combine.
Put in the date mixture and combine.
Fold in the nuts and chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake 35 to 40 minutes.
Let the cake cool before slicing.
