Chicken and Dumplings
Chicken And Dumplings is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 whole chicken plus 2 thighs and legs, cut up, 2 chicken bouillon cubes, salt and pepper to taste, 2 c. self-rising flour and 1/2 c. crisco, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Cover chicken with water.
Add bouillon cubes. Cook until done.
Debone chicken.
Mix flour and Crisco.
Add buttermilk. Make a stiff dough.
Roll out on a floured pastry cloth.
Be sure the pastry is very thin.
Cut into squares.
Drop pastry squares into boiling chicken broth.
Let the dumplings cook on medium for 15 to 20 minutes.
Add chicken.
Stir under the dumplings. Add sweet milk.
