Chicken a La King
Chicken A La King is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 sticks lowered fat margarine, 1 c. flour, 1 can chicken, packed in water, 1 can lesueur peas and 4 c. skim milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Melt 2 sticks margarine in pan; stir in 1 cup flour.
Add 1 cup milk at a time, stirring over medium heat to thicken.
When thick, add next cup of milk.
Use beaters if mixture gets lumpy. When thick, after all 4 cups of milk have been added, drain chicken and peas and add them to mixture.
Turn heat to low and heat through.
(Takes about 1/2 hour of standing on stove.)
