Mix sugar and softened margarine.
Add beaten eggs, then add buttermilk, vanilla, flour and meal.
Pour into unbaked pie shell. Begin baking at 400°, then turn to 325° after about 10 or 15 minutes, when pie begins to brown.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until pie no longer "jiggles."
