Cheeseburger Casserole

Brown 1 pound ground beef and 1/3 cup onion in skillet; drain off excess fat.
Add tomato soup, peas, salt and pepper to taste.
Pour mixture into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish; set aside.
Make biscuits by sifting together flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
Cut in shortening.
Add milk and stir until dough clings together.
Knead on lightly floured surface 12 times.
Divide dough into 8 pieces.
Mold dough around cheese.
Place dough-cheese balls on top of meat mixture.
Bake at 425Β° for 25 to 30 minutes.
