Caramel Layers
Caramel Layers is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/4 c. flour, 1 c. shortening, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 c. chocolate chips and 1/2 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Combine 2 c. flour, salt, soda, brown sugar and oatmeal.
Cut in with pastry blender.
Reserve 2 cups, press remaining mixture into bottom of greased 12 x 18-inch jellyroll pan.
Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
Combine caramel sauce with 1/4 c. flour.
Spread over base.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips, then reserved crumb mixture.
Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes until delicately browned.
