Oil pan; sprinkle flour in pan and heat pan and oven to 350Β°. Mix sugar and butter with mixer; pour vanilla flavoring in milk. Alternate flour and milk, mixing as you alternate.
Put egg yolks in the batter and beat egg whites in a bowl.
Fold in the egg whites; mix batter for about 30 seconds, adding baking powder. Remove heated pan from oven and pour in batter.
Let cake cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
