Buttermilk Cake
Buttermilk Cake is an moderately easy dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 34 minutes. Made with c. sugar, c. butter or margarine, eggs, c. flour and c. buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Cream sugar and butter.
Add egg yolks one at a time and mix well.
Dissolve soda in small amount of warm water, then add 1/2 of buttermilk.
Add to mixture and mix well.
Add rest of buttermilk.
Add vanilla, then add flour.
Beat 150 strokes.
Beat egg whites and add last.
Bake about 1 hour in 300Β° oven using angel food cake or Bundt pan.
Cake may be eaten as is or may drizzle outside with powdered sugar icing.
