Buttermilk Cake
Buttermilk Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. buttermilk, 2 1/2 c. sugar, 3 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. soda and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add one egg at a time and beat well after each.
Add sifted flour and salt alternately with the buttermilk.
Blend well.
Stir in soda, dissolved in the hot water and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Pour into tube pan.
Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
Reduce heat and bake at 325° for 20 minutes.
