Buttermilk Bread
Buttermilk Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 envelope active dry yeast, 1/4 c. lukewarm water, 2 c. warm buttermilk, 1/4 c. sugar and 1 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Soften yeast in water.
Add buttermilk, sugar, salt and baking soda.
Mix. Add 3 cups of the flour.
Beat until smooth.
Stir in butter.
Add remaining flour to make a light dough.
Turn onto lightly floured board.
Knead for about 8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in greased bowl, turning dough to grease all surfaces; cover; let rise for about 1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in bulk.
