Sift dry ingredients into bowl; then add lard or Crisco.
Rub with tips of fingers until it feels like meal.
Add buttermilk, beating with a spoon.

Cut with small cutter; place on a lightly greased pan.
Bake at 400Β° for 15 to 20 minutes.
