Buttercream Decorating Icing
Buttercream Decorating Icing is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter, 1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/8 tsp. salt and 1 lb. 10x sugar (4 c.), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream butter and shortening together with an electric mixer. Add vanilla and salt.
Beat in sugar, one cup at a time, blending well after each addition.
Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often with a spatula.
Add milk and beat at high speed for 10 minutes. Keep icing covered with lid and store in refrigerator.
Chill before making roses.
To use as frosting, thin with milk.
Yields 3 cups.
It can also be frozen.
