Brown Soda Bread
Brown Soda Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking soda, 2 1/4 c. whole wheat flour and 1 tbsp. butter or margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Put all-purpose flour in bowl; add salt and baking soda and stir together with fork.
Add whole wheat flour and mix.
Blend butter into flour mixture with pastry blender.
Make a well in center and add buttermilk; stir until blended (dough should be dry enough to knead, but not too dry).
Knead on floured board about 30 seconds.
Pat into greased 8-inch pan (black frying pan).
Cut gashes to form a cross.
Bake in preheated oven at 400Β° for about 30 minutes.
Cool on rack.
Makes a small loaf.
