Cubed bread layered with sausage, Colby or longhorn cheese, mushrooms and an egg-and-milk custard, then baked until puffed. A make-ahead favorite for holiday mornings.

Layer half of the bread cubes and half of the cheese cubes. Push down into melted butter in pan. Brown sausage and sprinkle over top.

Add the drained mushrooms.

Layer remaining bread cubes and cheese cubes.

Beat together eggs, milk, salt and pepper to taste.

Pour over bread mixture.

Sprinkle with dry mustard. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour.
