Bread in a Jar
Bread In A Jar is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. shortening, 2 2/3 c. sugar, 4 eggs, 2 c. canned pumpkin and 2/3 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Cream shortening and sugar; beat in eggs, pumpkin and water. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
Add to pumpkin mixture.
Stir in nuts.
Pour mixture into greased widemouth pint jars, filling 1/2 full.
Place jars on a baking sheet in the oven.
Bake at 325Β° for 45 minutes.
When bread is done, remove one jar at a time.
Wipe, sealing edge of jar with paper towel or cloth and screw cap on tightly.
The heat will vacuum seal the jar and the bread will keep for up to 1 year.
