Black Forest Trifle
Black Forest Trifle is an moderately easy dinner you can prepare in about 1 hour 8 minutes. Made with (9 x 13-inch) chocolate cake, unfrosted, cherry pie filling, large pkg. dark fudge pudding mix (cooked kind), egg yolks and to 1/2 c. pineapple juice, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Cook pudding according to package directions but add the egg yolks.
Set aside to cool completely.
Cut cake into 1-inch cubes (may not need the whole cake).
Using a large, deep bowl, layer cake, sprinkle pineapple juice, chocolate pudding, pie filling and Cool Whip, using about 1/3 of the amounts for each layer. Continue layering until bowl is full, but ending with Cool Whip. Garnish with chocolate curls or chips or cherries.
Refrigerate until served.
(Best chilled overnight.)
Spoon into dessert dishes.
