Black Corsicana Cake
Black Corsicana Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 scant c. sugar, 1 c. vegetable shortening, 1 c. strong coffee, 2 tsp. vanilla flavoring and 2 1/2 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Cream the sugar and shortening.
Add coffee, vanilla, flour, cocoa and salt.
Blend.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk and add to mixture.
Divide between three 8-inch cake pans (greased and floured or use Pam).
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes at 350Β°.
Cool and frost with Nancy's Chocolate Icing.
