Basic Marinara Sauce
Basic Marinara Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/3 c. olive oil, 4 cloves garlic, minced, 28 oz. can whole plum tomatoes, 6 to 10 chopped fresh basil leaves or 1 tbsp. dried and 1/2 tsp. oregano, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Heat olive oil in deep 12-inch skillet and saute garlic until tender, but do not burn.
Cut tomatoes into small chunks and add to skillet. Add basil, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper and bring to a low boil for 3 minutes.
Add wine and cook on moderate heat for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 15 minutes. Serve over 1 pound of pasta.
