Basic Cream Pie
Basic Cream Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. sugar, 3 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 1/2 c. milk and 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten (reserve whites), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Combine first 3 ingredients in top of double boiler.
Stir in cold milk.
Cook until thick, stirring constantly.
Stir a little of the mixture into the egg yolks.
Add to remaining mixture. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly.
Cool and stir in vanilla.
Pour into pie shell and cover with meringue.
