Cream shortening, salt and sugar; add eggs and beat.
Add half of flour.
Dissolve soda in hot water.
Add to creamed mixture.
Beat well.

Add bananas and pecans.

Bake at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes or until bread springs back when touched.
