If time permits, place ingredients in casserole or bean pot, topped with bacon strips and cook 4 hours at 300°.
If time is short, saute all fresh vegetables in seasoned fat.
Add all remaining ingredients and cook at 300° for 2 hours.
Do not cook too dry as juices will thicken some when removed from oven. Yields 12 to 15 servings.
