Baked Bananas
Baked Bananas is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 bananas (just underripe, not green, not speckled), 1 c. brown sugar, 4 tbsp. butter, juice of 1 lemon and zest from same lemon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Preheat oven to 350Β°.
In small saucepan, combine sugar, butter, water, salt and lemon juice.
Bring to a boil; cook briefly until syrupy.
Add zest.
Lightly smear a Pyrex (not aluminum) baking dish with butter (it's best to choose a dish you plan to serve it in, because transferring baked bananas is a tricky job). Split bananas in half lengthwise and place in dish so that they are cut side down and not overlapping.
Immediately cover bananas with syrup and pop in oven.
Bake for a total of 30 minutes.
After 10 minutes, baste them with syrup.
Repeat 10 minutes later.
