Azuki Shortbread
Azuki Shortbread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. butter or margarine, 5 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. sugar and 3/4 c. condensed milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Cream softened margarine with sugar.
Add salt to flour. Alternately add flour mixture and condensed milk to creamed margarine until well blended.
Put 1/2 of dough into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Flatten to cover bottom of pan.
Spread Koshian or Tsubushian to cover dough.
Add rest of dough and spread to cover the red beans.
Brush top with beaten egg white.
Bake at 300Β° for 1 hour until lightly brown.
Cut into 1 x 3-inch rectangles when done.
Cool in pan.
