Applesauce Fruit Cake
Applesauce Fruit Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 3 c. flour, 1 1/4 c. sugar, 3/4 c. butter, 2 c. warm applesauce and 1 c. raisins, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cream butter; add warm applesauce.
Add sour milk in which soda has been dissolved.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to first mixture.
Add fruits and nuts which have been dredged in flour.
Add coconut and grated orange rind.
Pour into well-greased and floured cake pan or 5 (1-pound) tins.
Bake in very moderate oven (305° to 325°) about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
