Cream together at slow speed 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup applesauce, 1/2 cup shortening.

Stir into batter 1 cup chopped nuts and 1 cup raisins.
Bake cake 30 minutes at 350°.
Bake cupcakes 20 minutes at 350°.
