Combine sugar, oil, applesauce, egg and vanilla.
Mix sifted flour, spices, raisins and nuts in separate bowl.
Add the flour mixture to the first mixture and blend well.
Turn into well-greased 11 x 3 x 3 inch loaf pan and bake at 350Β° for 1 hour. Keeps well, very moist.
