Apple Squash Casserole
Apple Squash Casserole is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. fresh butternut squash, 1 1/2 c. apples, pared and cut in large slices, 1/4 c. butter or margarine, 4 tbsp. brown sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Peel vegetable and cut into small slices or chunks.
Melt 3 tablespoons butter.
Mix with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, nuts and salt. Place a layer of squash in a 2-quart casserole dish. Drizzle with sugar-butter mixture. Top with a layer of apples, then butter-sugar.
Repeat until all ingredients are used. Dot with remaining butter. Cover and bake 45 to 60 minutes (may be a little less) at 350Β° until tender. Serves 4.
