Apple Dumplings
Apple Dumplings is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 to 8 large apples, 1 1/2 to 2 c. water, 2 c. flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Pare and core apples, saving skins and core and simmer in water.
Drain and reserve liquid from syrup.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Cut in shortening.
Add milk; stir only until moistened.
Roll out to size of tea towel; cut into 6 or 8 squares.
Put apples on each square of dough.
Put 1 teaspoon butter, 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon mixture in each apple. Pinch dough together over apple.
