Apple Chunk Cake
Apple Chunk Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. diced apples, 3/4 c. molasses, 1/2 c. water, 1/2 c. shortening and 1 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Cook the apples in the molasses and water until soft.
Add the shortening and cool. Add the sugar and stir well. Sift the flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.
Mix dry ingredients into the first mixture.
Add the vanilla.
Raisins or nuts may also be added.
Bake in a 325Β° oven for approximately 45 minutes.
Test occasionally.
May serve with whipped cream or serve it up warm from the oven.
