Apple Cake in a Jar
Apple Cake In A Jar is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. shortening, 2 2/3 c. sugar, 4 eggs, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 2 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Mix ingredients together in the order given. Sterilize 7 to 9 wide-mouth pint jars and lids. Grease jars with shortening. Fill jars half full. Bake on middle rack in oven for 45 minutes at 325Β°. As soon as the cakes are done, remove jars one at a time from oven. Wipe rim of jars clean with a damp cloth and put on the hot sterile lid. Screw down the bands and let cool. DO NOT USE SMALL-MOUTH JARS. DO NOT ADD ANY OTHER INGREDIENTS. As cake cools, it will pull away from the sides of the jars. SHELF LIFE IS ONE YEAR.
