Apple Bars
Apple Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/4 c. flour, divided, 1 1/4 c. sugar, divided, 1 c. oleo, 2 egg yolks and 4 c. sliced apples, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Combine 2 cups flour and 1/2 cup sugar.
Cut in oleo until crumbs are the size of peas.
Stir in egg yolks.
Press 1/2 of mixture into bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan and reserve the rest. Combine apples, remaining flour, sugar and cinnamon.
Place apple mixture over crust in pan.
Sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
Bake at 350Β° for 40 to 45 minutes.
Cool and drizzle with thin icing of powdered sugar and milk.
