Angel Biscuits
Angel Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. buttermilk, 1/3 c. sugar, 5 c. self-rising flour, 1 pkg. dry yeast and 1/4 c. warm water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Dry yeast in the 1/4 cup water to soften.
Heat the buttermilk, sugar and shortening until the sugar is melted.
Do not in bowl; add part of the flour and stir well. Add softened yeast; stir until blended well and add the remainder of the flour.
Knead until well mixed.
Sometimes it takes more than the 5 cups of flour.
Do not make the dough too stiff.
Makes about 90 (2-inch) party biscuits to a batch of dough.
The biscuits can be frozen for further use.
