Angel Biscuits
Angel Biscuits is an easy dinner. Made with 5 c. self-rising flour, 1/4 c. sugar, 3/4 c. shortening (crisco), 1 pkg. dry yeast, dissolve in 2 tbsp. or more warm water and 2 c. buttermilk (or 2 c. sweet milk with 2 tsp. lemon juice added), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
π Recipe adapted from RecipeNLG-Full
Mix flour, shortening, sugar and yeast (dissolved) with a pastry blender or fork.
Slowly add buttermilk.
Knead well.
Cut out biscuits and bake 10 to 20 minutes at 400Β° (depends on oven). Do not let biscuits rise.
Makes tall, moist biscuits.
This is the only recipe I ever use.
Serve with fried chicken, sausage gravy or just jelly and honey.
A big family favorite.
