Alvin's Shrimp Chow Mein
Alvin'S Shrimp Chow Mein is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. onion, chopped, 1 1/2 c. celery, chopped, 2 tsp. butter or margarine, melted, 1 (14 oz.) can bean sprouts, drained and 1 (2 1/2 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Saute onion and celery in butter until onion is tender.
Add next 6 ingredients, stirring well.
Simmer 5 minutes.
Add shrimp; simmer 5 minutes, stirring often.
Combine water and cornstarch, stirring until smooth.
Add to shrimp mixture.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
Serve over rice or noodles.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
