4-Star Chocolate Cake
4-Star Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter or shortening, 1 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tbsp. vanilla and 3 egg whites, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Cream butter or shortening, sugar and salt.
Blend 1/2 cup cocoa into 1/3 cup water and add to first mixture.
Add alternately to the mixture the sifted flour, cold water and vanilla.
Fold in 3 egg whites, beaten stiff with 3/4 cup sugar added.
Add to cake mixture gradually.
Add last the soda, mixed in 1 tablespoon boiling water.
Bake in loaf or layer pans in a 350Β° oven.
