1. The service

Smiling Pages provides a recipe catalogue, cooking-mode tools, a shopping list, a meal planner, a pantry tracker, and related features. The service is provided as-is and free of charge. The app has no accounts, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising.

The service is operated by an individual operator based in the United States.

2. Eligibility

The iOS app is rated 13+ on the App Store because the recipe catalogue includes cocktail and other alcoholic-drink recipes. The service is not directed at children under 13. Recipes that contain alcohol are intended only for people of legal drinking age where they live.

3. Your content

The service does not require an account. The only content you can send us is:

• Comments on recipes (website). Public; the name field is displayed next to the comment.
• Votes (website) and ratings (iOS app). Anonymous numeric scores used to show a recipe’s average rating. The app does not accept written reviews or comments.

Recipes, notes, shopping lists, meal plans and pantry items you create in the app stay on your device and are not published or shared by us.

You are responsible for what you submit. You confirm that any comment you post is your own and does not infringe a third party’s rights.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except where permitted by law.
• Submit comments or any other content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, infringing, or contains malware.
• Manipulate recipe ratings or votes, for example with automated or repeated submissions.
• Probe, scan, or load-test the public read-only API beyond reasonable use. We may rate-limit or block abusive clients.
• Misrepresent yourself or impersonate another person.

We may remove content that violates these rules, discard ratings or votes that look manipulated, or block clients that disrupt the service.

5. Price

The website and the app are free. The app contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If we ever add a paid feature, it will be offered through Apple’s App Store, and we will update these Terms before it is released.

6. Reporting a problem with a recipe

If a recipe contains an error, a safety problem, or content you believe infringes your rights, email support@smilingpages.com with the recipe name or link. We review reports and may correct or remove the recipe. See our support page for details.

7. Cooking and food safety disclaimer

Cooking is performed by you, in your kitchen, under conditions only you control. You accept responsibility for:

• Verifying food allergens against your own dietary restrictions, even when allergen or dietary filters are enabled. Filters and tags are best-effort and may miss ingredients, including ones introduced through ingredient substitutions.
• Verifying food-safety steps for raw meat, seafood, eggs, dairy, fermented foods, and home preserves.
• Verifying recipe outcomes — recipes, substitutions and meal plan suggestions are best-effort and may contain errors.
• Using kitchen equipment safely, including hot surfaces, sharp edges, and pressurised equipment.
• Supervising children in the kitchen.
• Drinking responsibly and following the alcohol laws where you live.

Smiling Pages does not provide medical, dietetic, or nutritional advice. Macro and calorie estimates are computed from USDA reference data and are estimates, not measured values. Consult a qualified health professional before changing your diet for medical reasons.

8. Third-party services

The service uses third-party services described in the Privacy Policy (Open Food Facts for barcode lookups, and the third-party websites that host some recipe images). Those services are governed by their own terms; we are not responsible for their conduct.

9. Intellectual property

The Smiling Pages name, logo, app icon, design system, and source code are owned by the operator. Product data from Open Food Facts is available under the Open Database Licence. You may not reproduce the recipe catalogue at scale without written permission. If you believe content on the service infringes your rights, see §6.

The smiling-page emoji-on-orange app icon is original work; the colour marks “BrandPrimary” (#FF6B35) and “BrandSecondary” (#FFD166) are in use as brand identifiers.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. THE OPERATOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR- FREE OR THAT THE RECIPE DATA IS COMPLETE OR FREE OF MISTAKES.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE OPERATOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; (C) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICE; (D) ANY ERRORS OR INACCURACIES IN RECIPE CONTENT; OR (E) UNAUTHORISED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT.

In jurisdictions that do not permit such limitations, the operator’s liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and in any event capped at the greater of (i) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or (ii) US $20.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from any claim brought by a third party arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your violation of any law or third-party right; or (c) any content you submit to the service.

13. Termination

You can stop using the service at any time by deleting the app, which also deletes all app data stored on your device. We can terminate or suspend your access to the service for breach of these Terms, including violation of §4. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimer, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) survive.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. If a change affects the app, we will publish it here before the app update it relates to is released. Continued use after a change is published constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.

16. Apple-specific provisions (iOS app)

The following supplements the Terms for users who installed the app through the Apple App Store:

• These Terms are concluded between you and the operator only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
• Apple is not responsible for product claims, including product liability, consumer protection, or intellectual-property infringement.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce these Terms against you.
• The operator, not Apple, is responsible for support and for addressing any questions, complaints or claims about the app. Contact: support@smilingpages.com.
• You confirm you are not located in a country subject to U.S. Government embargoes or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
