Into flour and salt.
Beat egg slightly and add to batter.
Add water.
Beat well to cause bubbles.
Let sit and rebeat at intervals.
Teaspoon of hot meat fat into round 8 or 9-inch in oven. Pour in batter and bake at 425° for about 15 minutes, reducing oven to 350° for 15 minutes longer.
Batter should rise like popovers and be served with roast beef and pan gravy.
