Mix and bake yellow cake mix as directed on box.
Simmer 20 ounce can of crushed pineapple with 1/2 to all of its juice and 1 cup sugar until it thickens slightly.
When cake is done, punch holes in top and pour hot pineapple mixture over cake.
Refrigerate until chilled.
Mix 1 small box instant vanilla pudding and pour over top; chill.
