Made with 1 cake (or pkg.) yeast, dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water, 1 egg, beaten well, 2 c. scalded milk, cooled to lukewarm, 3 tsp. salt and 1/2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Dissolve yeast in water in small container.

Let it soak while beating egg in cup.

Put the sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl.

Pour scalded milk over it and stir.

Add yeast, being sure to scrape it all out, next add beaten egg and stir again.

Now add 3 cups flour and stir until blended.

Add melted butter (be sure it isn't hot) blend, add 3 more cups flour and stir until blended but do not knead as with most yeast doughs.
