West Haven Cake
West Haven Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 small pkg. dates, 1 tsp. soda, 1 c. hot water, 1 c. sugar and 1/2 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

π¨βπ³ Instructions
Cut dates in half and pour over them the hot water mixed with the soda.
Let cool.
Cream the sugar and shortening.
Add the dates to the creamed mixture and add the salt. Add eggs, vanilla and flour (that was sifted with the cocoa).
Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan and sprinkle with the nut meats and 1 bar of German sweet chocolate and Hershey candy bars over the top.
Bake 40 minutes at 350Β°.
