Waldorf Red Cake
Waldorf Red Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp. cocoa and 1 tbsp. red food color, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs until very fluffy.
Make paste of cocoa and red color and add to creamed mixture.
Sift flour and salt together and add alternately with buttermilk.
Mix soda and vinegar and add with the vanilla.
Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan or 2 (9-inch) round layer pans.
Bake approximately 30 minutes in a 350Β° oven.
