Unstuffed Cabbage
Unstuffed Cabbage is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 12 oz. lean ground beef, 1 c. chopped onions, 1/2 good size head green cabbage (about 1 1/2 lb.), 1 can (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes and 1 tbsp. packed light brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Combine beef in 4 to 5-quart Dutch oven.
Add onions.
Cook over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes, stirring often, until beef is lightly brown.
Add bouillon cubes.
Quarter and core cabbage.
Cut crosswise in inch wide strips, about 8 cups.
Add to meat mixture. Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally until cabbage wilts (salt to taste).
Stir in tomatoes, sugar and vinegar.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat.
Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes.
