Twists
Twists is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1 c. milk, 3 c. sifted flour, 1/2 c. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine shortening, sugar and salt.
Pour milk over and let stand until lukewarm.
Have yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.
Mix with other mixture.
Blend in 1 1/2 cups flour and beat until smooth.
Cover and let set 15 minutes.
Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
Mix rest of flour and let rise in warm place until double in bulk.
Dip out rounded spoonfuls and roll into mixture of nuts, sugar and cinnamon.
Stretch into long twisted pieces and place on greased cookie sheet.
Let rise 15 minutes.
Bake at 375Β° for 12 to 15 minutes.
