Turtle Cake

Combine cake mix and butter (preparing mix according to package directions).
Pour 1/2 of batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Bake at 350° for 5 to 6 minutes or until cake puffs up and is still gooey.
Unwrap caramels.
Combine caramels and milk in top of double boiler and cook until caramels melt.
Pour caramel mixture over baked top layer.
Add nuts and chocolate chips over melted caramels.
Pour remaining batter over all.
Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
Frost with whipped cream.
