Turtle Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 box german chocolate cake mix, 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels, 3/4 c. butter or margarine, 1/2 c. evaporated milk and 1 c. chopped pecans, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

In saucepan, over low heat, melt caramels with butter and milk.

Mix cake according to directions.

Pour half of batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan.

Bake at 350Β° for 15 minutes.

Remove from oven; top with chocolate chips and pecans. Pour caramel mixture over the first layer after baking it.

Pour second half of cake batter over top.

Bake 20 minutes more.

May frost, if desired.

May be prepared a couple of days in advance.
