Turtle Brownies
Turtle Brownies is an moderately easy dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 40 minutes. Made with (14 oz.) pkg. caramels, c. evaporated milk, box german chocolate cake mix, c. softened margarine and c. chopped nuts, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Unwrap caramels and add 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in a double boiler.
Stir mixture until melted.
Combine cake mix, remaining milk and softened margarine.
Blend until mixture holds together. Stir in nuts.
Press 1/2 of the cake mix into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake 6 minutes at 350°.
Remove pan from oven.
Sprinkle chocolate pieces on top.
Pour melted caramels over top evenly. Crumble remaining mixture over caramel mixture and bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
Cool completely and cut into bars.
Garnish top with a few chocolate bits and nuts.
